The community that I want to be apart of is the medical community. This is because of my past. When I was younger, I had seizures and was in the hospital a lot. I had a strong interest in technology and being in a hospital and seeing how devices can help people who are hurt. I wanted to go into making devices so that I could help people with what I can do. This is also part of why I made the SIP project I did. Along with working on the IoT lab gave me the idea to implement it with the medical industry. The sip project I have been working on is called AME (Astute Medical Environment) The project A.M.E will make medical devices connect to the intranet (localized network) making them IoT and display information on a computer matrix. This information will include all test results and a notes section for each visit. Then it will display results from this visit compared to previous visits. This will allow for better and faster a diagnosis. All of this will be controlled through a gateway, so patient information is not leaked. I wanted to make a system that will allow people to be helped faster and more efficiently. Some other projects that I have worked on to help in the community were an adaptive game controller housing so a man who has a disability could play videogames with his children. I was able to meet the family and create this housing for him. It was a wonderful experience and brought me so much joy. Another project I work on was the NASA Pendent project. The design challenge was to create a pendant that will notify the wearer if they are about to touch their face. This project was inspired by the pandemic to help people stay safe. This is another project I found very fun and had a good purpose although I do not see anyone practically using it. Overall, I think the main community I want to be part of is one that helps people. Medical is just the one I was around most growing up. If I can help people with what I do is all I really care about. Such as when I worked on Loomo. In this project, we turned a Segway robot into an office assistant. It was a fun project that could help people. It might not be a major device that helps but it still helps. My goal in life is to help as many people as I can with what I can do. The more I can learn about my fields the better I can help them.
